Safety Management

 WH&S Management System

Significant investment in improving workplace health and safety has taken place recently.

DPC has since commenced the development of a formal Safety Management System (SMS) to better manage and improve workplace health and safety for workers, contractors and the general public. The WHS Manager visits and advises DPC staff from all work locations on Work Health and Safety matters as well as ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

DPC have a developed policy and the safety management system framework is shown below.

The Safety Management System comprises of Safety Policies, Safe Work Procedures and specific Management plans, leading into the detailed Safe Work Instructions for common tasks.

The system is based on the AS/NZS 4804:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems encompassing Commitment Planning & Review, Workplace Hazard Management, Selection, Induction & Training, Communication, Consultation and Involvement and Incident Injury and Emergency Management.

All workplace incidents are investigated to determine a root cause. DPC will develop appropriate controls to ensure that the risk of a repeat incident is formally managed.
