Australia’s Marine National Facility research vessel Southern Surveyor will be in Darwin at Stokes Hill 12-14 October 2012 and will be opening their doors to the public for free tours. The vessel is on a voyage between Fremantle and Darwin conducting research and collecting data regarding marine debris and its effects on seabirds, turtles and other marine life. The vessel will then leave Darwin to Timor Leste to deploy scientific moorings to collect data for 18 months to understand more about the major currents travelling between the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
