The Northern Territory Government is proposing to expand the East Arm Wharf. Expansion of the wharf is necessary to meet Darwin’s needs into the future, particularly the increasing demand in bulk mineral export volumes and the increasing business generated by the oil and gas industry.
A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) has been developed in accordance with the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and the Northern Territory Environmental Assessment Act (1982) and is available at: www.nt.gov.au/nreta/environment/assessment/register/index.html and www.eastarmwharf-eis.com.au
Persons wishing to comment on the DEIS are invited to make submissions by close of business on 5 August 2011:
